Cancellation
In the event that the hirer cancels their booking deposit, full fee’s and bond are refundable up until eight (8) weeks prior to the hire start date. Inside of the eight (8) week time-frame the hirer understands that only their bond and fee’s are refundable. Deposits are non-refundable. There is a $50.00 administration fee charged against all cancellations. It is understood that fee’s paid to The Classic Caravan Company LTD are for caravan hire only. Any camp/site fee’s are to be paid to the camp directly and the payment and arrangements are the responsibility of the hirer. We have no association or affiliation with any camp and are unable to arrange or influence sites at any time.
Insurance
The Classic Caravan Company is commercially insured, this cover extends to our assets only. When hiring from us your personal effects must be covered by your own personal insurance.
Administration & Delivery Fees
The Classic Caravan Company charges no administration or delivery fees, however if the hirer cancels or causes an unusually time consuming workload at any time before, during or after their hire we reserve the right to apply either or both.
Weather/Pandemic/Epidemic
In the event that poor weather or other circumstances occur affecting the hirer’s ability to commence or continue their hire The Classic Caravan Company may invoke force majeure provisions. If we are prohibited from fulfilling our obligation to you due to circumstances out of our control whether due to rules implemented by the government or any other body or administration, or a weather, fire or other event we do not guarantee refunds, replacement caravans/awnings and/or supplementary accommodation. It is recommended that the hirer engage their own travel insurance.
Awnings
Our awnings are traditional canvas awnings, and we invest considerable time and money in their maintenance and set-up. It is very important that they are tensioned and pegged correctly. Should the hirer choose to alter the way that we have left the awning on-site and adverse weather causes damage to the awning the hirer accepts full responsibility for replacement costs.
Fridge
Our caravans are fitted with a small under bench fridge. They are a fridge only with no freezer. The Classic Caravan Company accepts no liability for loss of food caused by the hirer overloading the fridge, or a fridge failing due to electical outage, equipment failure of any sort, weather or any other means. The fridges that we provide are small and not suitable to store large amounts of food. Please note, we do not provide freezer facilities and the ice boxes in the caravan fridges are not suitable to be used as such.
Mattress Protectors
Our caravan mattresses are professionally cleaned seasonally, but as we provide no linen with our hires they are not fitted with mattress protectors. In the interest of hygiene we ask that our hirers pack a mattress protector with their bedding.
Deposit/Camping hires
We ask for a deposit of 20% deductible from your total fee. Your booking is secured on receipt of this deposit. Your deposit must be paid within one week of booking. If no deposit is received we will assume that you no longer wish to commence with the hire.
Full payment of fee’s
Hire fee’s must be paid in full no later than eight (8) weeks prior to your hire start date. Requirement for The Little Movie Van is four (4) weeks.
Bond/Vehicle deposit
The Classic Caravan Company LTD reserves the right to charge a bond and/or vehicle deposit. Any soiling or damage to a caravan or its contents requiring more than a general clean, repairs of any sort or any incident resulting in an insurance claim will in the first instance be deducted from bond held. At our discretion, commercial cleaners may be engaged. Any repairs that may need to be carried out due to damage caused by the hirer will be billed at $75.00 per hour plus parts and/or materials. Any additional monies owing for any reason may be recovered using any external agency that it may be necessary to engage. The hirer will be liable for all collection costs. The Classic Caravan Company LTD and/or their insurer may also pursue reimbursement of any costs incurred through damage by a hirer. The Classic Caravan Company may pursue reimbursement of any monies owing due to engaging external contractor's caused by damage or misuse or any other scenario by the hirer. The Classic Caravan Company may also pursue reimbursement of commercial insurance excess. Please note that we expect our caravans to be returned to us as we left them for you. If you do not leave your caravan clean we will deduct a cleaning fee charged at $70 per hour. If your fridge is not clean we will deduct a $25.00 cleaning fee from your bond. If your waste water container is not empty & clean we will deduct a $25.00 emptying and cleaning fee from your bond.
If your microwave is not clean we will deduct a $25.00 cleaning fee from your bond. Failing to leave your caravan cleaned to a reasonable standard will directly affect your ability to rehire from us.
Bond/Vehicle Deposit Refund
Bond/Vehicle Deposit will be repaid within five (5) working days of the hire end date on satisfactory inspection. Please provide a bank account number for us to transfer this into. All transactions are electronic.
When You Are Camping
Please, no BBQ’s/cooking stations against the sides of our caravans and/or awnings. Please do not lean things against the sides of the caravan, either inside the awning or outside. This includes bikes. In the awning there must be a gap between the sides of the caravan and your table, food safe, whiteware, bunks etc.
Please do not tie things to our awnings and or poles. This includes rope for washing line. Our caravans are equipped with vintage duraware for your use. This is hardy & practical but please note that it is not microwaveable. We have included microwave containers for your use. Each caravan has an inventory of things provided for your use, ie your caravan kit. Please utilise this on departure. We will not absorb the cost of replacing things lost, broken or taken home by mistake. We need to replace these things immediately for our next camper and so this cost will be deducted from your bond.
Inspections
The Classic Caravan Company LTD reserves the right to inspect any caravan. We will do our best to accommodate the hirer and their privacy at all times.
Smoking and vaping is expressly forbidden inside all caravans and awnings at all times. Smoking and vaping is also forbidden within 2 meters of the caravan and/or awning doors. If there is any indication that a caravan has been smoked in bond paid will be forfeited and the hirer may be liable for further cleaning charges.
The Classic Caravan Company LTD reserves the right to cancel this agreement and remove their property at any time with no notice if there is any evidence of smoking, damage to a caravan, or suspicion of any illegal activity taking place within or involving a caravan. Any of the above would be considered a breach of this agreement and no refund of fee’s would be applicable.
T's&C's for long term hires are as above with the following additions.
Weekly Hire Fees
Fees are agreed at $80.00 per week on pay as you go terms. Your first payment is due on the day of delivery and consecutive payments are due every 7th day. Please automate your payments to ensure that they come out on the same day every week. We do not accept cash. Please note that the terms of your hire include our requirements around payment being met. If these terms are not met we may remove our vehicle without notice and recover any costs deducted from your deposit. This includes consecutive missed or late payments. It is to be understood that The Classic Caravan Company LTD is engaged in leasing commercial caravans for private use. The Classic Caravan Company reserves the right to charge a deposit against the security of said caravans. At no time is The Classic Caravan Company agreeing to enter into any relationship where they are to be considered a landlord.
Admin & Delivery Fees
We charge no administration or delivery fees initially, however if the hirer causes an unusually time consuming workload at any time before, during or after their hire we reserve the right to apply either or both.
Hire Term and Notice Period
We offer a minimum hire term of 16 weeks. If circumstances change for the hirer and the hire ends earlier than the agreed date we require a minimum of two (2) weeks notice. Please be advised that failure to provide the notice period may result in The Classic Caravan Company LTD retaining the two (2) weeks from deposit or retaining the two (2) weeks in advance (if applicable). In hiring our caravan and accepting this agreement you are agreeing to these terms.
Inspections
The Classic Caravan Company LTD reserves the right to inspect any caravan at any time. We will accommodate the hirer and their privacy giving a minimum 48hrs notice. You can expect an inspection after the first four (4) weeks and thereafter as required by us.
Smoking
Smoking is expressly forbidden inside all caravans at all times. Smoking is also forbidden within 2 meters of the caravan doors. If there is any indication that a caravan has been smoked in deposit paid will be forfeit and the hirer liable for all further cleaning charges. Smoking includes tobacco, vape, marijuana and methamphetamine. We take time at the end of your hire to assess this. Airing, cleaning and/or covering up the smell with product is not sufficient to remove any of the above. We DO NOT hire our caravans to smokers, and there are no exceptions.
Maintenance
Our caravans are all New Zealand made classics, and at least 45 years old. In most cases your vehicle will be original and in all cases it will be maintained in an excellent condition. As with all caravans however, they have had leaks in the past and will do again. At no time do we hire caravans with known leaks, however if during your hire something out of the ordinary comes to your attention it is required that you let us know immediately. You WILL NOT lose your accommodation, we will assess and plan a repair for as soon as is practicable.
General
It is important to understand that classic caravans are not lined. When in use during winter months the use of a dehumidifier is required, and a fan heater is recommended over other heating types. We will provide the dehumidifier for your use. Caravans should be aired regularly. Cooking is not allowed inside, however jug and toaster are fine.
